Palestinian Woman Killed in Israeli Drone Attack

Gaza Herald – Palestinian woman Maysaa Jaber al-Attar was killed on Friday after being directly hit by an Israeli drone strike in the al-Atatra area, northwest of Gaza City, another attack on unarmed residents despite an announced ceasefire still officially in place. Local sources say Israeli drones have been circling the area constantly since the end of the large-scale bombing campaign, keeping civilians under permanent threat.

Since the so-called ceasefire took effect on 11 October 2025, Israel has killed around 260 Palestinians and wounded more than 630 others in scattered attacks across the Strip, exposing the truce as a façade while military operations continue in civilian areas in open violation of basic protections for non-combatants.

These violations come after a two-year genocidal war that began on 8 October 2023 and killed more than 69,000 Palestinians and injured over 170,000, the vast majority women and children, while destroying about 90% of Gaza’s civilian infrastructure, including hospitals, schools, homes, and vital services.

Human rights advocates say the targeted killing of civilians like al-Attar in residential zones, using precision drones capable of clearly identifying individuals, shows deliberate disregard for the principles of distinction and proportionality under international humanitarian law, and reflects a broader pattern of impunity that guarantees such crimes will be repeated unless accountability is enforced.
