Gaza’s Displaced Face Heavy Rainfall as Israel Blocks All Shelter Aid

Gaza Herald – Heavy rainfall has flooded the tents and destroyed homes where thousands of displaced Palestinian families are trying to survive, turning already catastrophic living conditions into a new layer of danger.

With no proper shelter, no insulation, and no protection from the elements, families woke up soaked, shivering, and surrounded by rising water in the early hours of Friday.

Israel continues to block all tents, tarps, and shelter materials from entering Gaza, leaving people exposed to freezing temperatures, waterborne disease, and life-threatening cold. Children are now sleeping in wet blankets on mud floors, their fragile makeshift shelters collapsing under the rain.

Humanitarian workers warn that the combination of flooding, winter cold, and untreated illness could be deadly, especially for infants and the elderly.

In a Gaza trapped under genocide and blockade, even the rain has become a threat, and survival inside the flooded tents is now a fight against both hunger and the cold.
