Israeli Army Expands Ground Invasion into Southern Gaza

Gaza Herald —Southern Gaza, once considered the last refuge for displaced Palestinians, is now under direct assault as Israeli forces expand their ground invasion deeper into the enclave. Entire neighborhoods in Rafah and Khan Younis already flattened by airstrikes, are now being overrun by troops and tanks, leaving civilians with no haven.

Expanding the Ground Offensive

The Israeli military confirmed that three divisions are simultaneously pushing into Gaza City, the north, and now the south. Commandos from the Etzioni Brigade have carried out raids across Rafah, where Israel claimed to have killed dozens of so-called “terrorists.” In reality, the operations have brought further devastation to a city already reduced to rubble, with remaining civilian infrastructure deliberately destroyed.

Khan Younis Under Siege

After moving through Rafah, Israeli forces advanced into Khan Younis, tightening control over the area by carving out a military corridor that has severed the two cities. This maneuver has further trapped tens of thousands of Palestinians, many of them children and the elderly, who had fled from other parts of Gaza believing southern districts might offer shelter from Israel’s relentless war.

Humanitarian Disaster Intensifies

The expansion of the ground offensive into southern Gaza has escalated fears of mass atrocities, with humanitarian organizations warning of catastrophic consequences. With entire families displaced multiple times, food and water scarce, and hospitals overwhelmed or destroyed, civilians are being systematically deprived of any chance at survival.

The invasion of Rafah and Khan Younis signals the complete erasure of so-called “safe zones” in Gaza. As Israel extends its military campaign across the entire Strip, Palestinians find themselves trapped in an ever-shrinking space under siege, with no escape from bombardment, displacement, or death. The expansion of the offensive underscores what rights groups and international observers have described as the deliberate and ongoing genocide of Gaza’s people.
