Israel Pushes False Safe Zones as Gaza Residents Resist Forced Eviction

Gaza Herald – Over 900,000 Palestinians remain steadfast in Gaza City, defying Israel’s attempts to forcibly evacuate them southwards, even as more than 335,000 civilians have been displaced under relentless bombardment.

The Israeli occupation continues to wage a campaign of annihilation, leaving neighborhoods flattened and families trapped in their homes.

According to Gaza’s Government Media Office, Israel systematically spreads false information, claiming the existence of tents, humanitarian aid, and “safe zones” in southern Gaza, none of which exist on the ground.

The aim is clear: coerce civilians into abandoning their homes and neighborhoods. Recent weeks saw over 60,000 displaced southward, while more than 24,000 returned to their homes in Gaza City after finding the “relief zones” devoid of basic necessities like food, water, shelter, electricity, and medical care.

Areas such as Al-Mawasi in Khan Younis and Rafah, falsely promoted as safe by Israeli authorities, have endured over 114 airstrikes and repeated bombardments, killing over 2,000 people.

With less than 12% of Gaza designated for “shelter” under Israel’s maps, more than 1.7 million Palestinians are being forced into extreme overcrowding in a calculated attempt to empty northern Gaza and Gaza City.

The Government Media Office condemned the genocide, forced displacement, and the silence of the international community, urging UN bodies and international courts to hold Israel accountable for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
