GazaHerald – Hospital sources in Gaza reported that 39 Palestinians were killed on Thursday morning in a wave of Israeli attacks, including 27 in Gaza City alone, as the Israeli army intensified its campaign to seize the city and forcibly displace its residents.
Funeral processions were held from the Shifa Medical Complex for many of the victims. A medical source at Shifa confirmed that two Palestinians, including a child, were killed and several others wounded when an Israeli airstrike struck a tent sheltering displaced members of the Abu Harbideh family in the Yarmouk area of central Gaza City.
Another strike on the Shawa family home near the Al-Sha‘biyah intersection in the Al-Daraj neighborhood left multiple casualties. At the same time, heavy bombardment hit Tunnel Street and the Sheikh Radwan area, accompanied by flares fired across the skies of Gaza City.
In central Gaza, a child was killed by Israeli gunfire in the Bureij refugee camp, and several people were wounded in Deir al-Balah when an Israeli drone targeted a house near Khadija al-Basah school.
At the same time, the Health Ministry announced that six Palestinians, including a child, died of starvation in the past 24 hours, raising the famine death toll to 404, among them 141 children. The ministry noted that the number continues to climb as Israel blocks humanitarian aid from entering the enclave.
The Humanitarian Working Group in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, which brings together UN agencies and more than 200 NGOs, issued a statement warning of the “dangerous escalation” in Gaza City.
It said Israel had ordered civilians to evacuate south but failed to guarantee safety or provide adequate services in what it calls a “humanitarian zone.”
The group stressed that nearly one million Palestinians now face impossible choices, with both the north and the south of Gaza unsafe. Families unable to afford the high costs of transportation and safe passage remain trapped, enduring severe shortages of food, water, medical care, and shelter.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel, backed by the United States, has waged a war of annihilation in Gaza, killing 64,656 Palestinians and wounding 163,503, the majority of them women and children. Hundreds of thousands remain displaced, and famine continues to spread, threatening the lives of Gaza’s exhausted population.
