Gaza Herald – Today, Al-Shifa Hospital announces the death of the young girl, Rahaf Al-Balawi, who succumbed to severe malnutrition and lack of medical care. Her death highlights the escalating humanitarian crisis in the enclave, where children are increasingly vulnerable to hunger and preventable diseases.
Health officials warn that malnutrition rates have reached alarming levels in Gaza. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), as of July 2025, at least 74 deaths linked to malnutrition were documented this year, including 24 children under the age of five. Families struggling under the blockade face severe food shortages, while access to essential medical care remains extremely limited.
Hospitals in Gaza are under immense pressure, lacking both supplies and staff to cope with the growing number of malnutrition cases. Doctors report that conditions are worsening daily, with children bearing the heaviest burden.
Humanitarian organizations are calling for immediate international intervention to provide food, medicine, and emergency care. Without urgent action, more live are at risk.
