Rising Toll: Gaza Ministry Details Soaring Number of Orphans Amid Relentless Assault

Gaza Herald _The Gaza Ministry of Social Development released alarming figures on Thursday, revealing that the total number of registered orphans in the besieged enclave has climbed to 65,279.

This devastating total includes 54,468 children who have lost one or both parents as a direct result of the ongoing military campaign.

According to the ministry’s official statement, 2,039 children have been added to these heartbreaking records since October 10, 2025. Additionally, the toll on families continues to mount, with registered widows now totaling 28,224, which includes 742 women widowed during that same timeframe.

The ministry emphasized that these grim statistics lay bare a catastrophic humanitarian crisis driven by relentless violence, forced displacement, and the systematic shrinking of designated safe zones for civilians.

Destruction of Shelters and Displacement Crisis

Field teams documented widespread devastation affecting humanitarian infrastructure, including:
• Direct strikes or severe damage to over 20 shelters and displacement camps.
• The total destruction of homes for more than 638 families, alongside widespread damage to over 163 tents.
• A critical lack of shelter capacity and shifting front lines, leaving over 800 newly displaced families with no choice but to sleep out in the open.

Stating that shelters can no longer guarantee even the most basic levels of safety, the ministry issued an urgent appeal to the international community and mediators. It called for immediate intervention to halt the military aggression and secure essential protections for displaced civilians.
