Rights Group Warns of Escalating Israeli Killings, Targeted Strikes Across Gaza

Gaza Herald _The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR) has warned of a growing escalation in Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip, documenting an increase in killings and targeted strikes that continue to claim the lives of Palestinian civilians.

According to the organization, the rising number of deadly incidents reflects Israel’s ongoing military campaign in Gaza and its continued implementation of policies that have resulted in widespread civilian casualties and destruction throughout the territory.

In a statement released Thursday, the center noted that May 2026 recorded the highest monthly death toll since the start of the year. Data from Gaza’s Ministry of Health showed that 119 Palestinians were killed during the month, including 19 children and 10 women.

The organization emphasized that women, children, and elderly Palestinians accounted for nearly 30 percent of those killed, highlighting the heavy toll being borne by civilians.

Residential Homes Targeted in Gaza City

Among the latest incidents documented by the center was an Israeli helicopter attack in western Gaza City during the early hours of June 4.

The strike hit an apartment near Al-Qouqa Roundabout in Al-Shati refugee camp, killing Abdullah Abu Kloub, 40, and his wife Rana, 38. Another Palestinian, Asem Shubair, 37, was also killed, while several others sustained injuries.

At nearly the same time, another residential apartment belonging to the Al-Ghoul family in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood was struck, leaving multiple residents wounded.

Minutes later, Israeli aircraft targeted an apartment inside Al Salam Building in the Tal al-Hawa area. The attack killed Mohammed Abu Marq, 42, and his wife Reham Al-Riyashi, 37.

In a separate strike on an apartment in the Labad residential building, Hassan Labad, 43, his wife Manar, 40, their daughter Rahaf, 18, and their six-year-old son Tamim were killed. Their young daughter Hala survived with injuries.

Deadly Attacks Continue in Central Gaza

The rights center also documented a drone strike carried out on June 3 against the courtyard of the Abu Karim family home near Maki Roundabout in Al-Maghazi refugee camp.

The attack killed brothers Moamen Abu Karim, 30, and Saqr Abu Karim, 35, while several other civilians were injured.

Earlier that day, another Israeli drone strike targeted a gathering near Al-Zawayda Park in central Gaza, killing Khamis Juwaifel, 47, and wounding three others.

The organization said such attacks have become a recurring feature of daily life across Gaza, where civilians remain vulnerable despite repeated international calls for protection.

Shooting Incidents in Khan Younis

In southern Gaza, Israeli forces stationed east of Khan Younis opened fire on a group of civilians near Al-Abbara Street on June 2.

The shooting killed Ali Al-Adaini, 28, and wounded his brother Baha, 20. According to the center, Baha was later detained by Israeli forces before being released while still suffering from his injuries.

Later that morning, an Israeli drone struck a civilian vehicle traveling along Salah al-Din Road east of Deir al-Balah.

The attack killed Ahmed Abu Mughaseeb, 26, and injured four other civilians who were nearby.

Drone Strike Kills Civilian in Al-Bureij

On June 1, a drone attack targeted a bicycle near the municipal garage in Al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza.

The strike killed Youssef Ramadan, 33, and critically wounded another Palestinian.

The center noted that attacks on individuals traveling through civilian areas continue to generate fear among residents already struggling under the effects of displacement, destruction, and economic collapse.

Calls for Urgent International Action

The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights urged the international community to take immediate action to stop the ongoing killings and attacks against Palestinian civilians in Gaza.

The organization called for accountability through international legal mechanisms and demanded concrete measures to ensure civilian protection and prevent further loss of life.

PCHR stressed that continued inaction risks emboldening further violations and leaves Gaza’s civilian population exposed to ongoing violence, displacement, and suffering.

The center renewed its appeal for governments, international institutions, and human rights bodies to uphold their legal responsibilities and work toward ending the cycle of attacks that has devastated Palestinian communities throughout the Gaza Strip.
