Gaza Herald – Israeli occupation authorities compelled Palestinian resident Fadel Al-Rajabi to demolish his own home in the Ashariya neighborhood of Beit Hanina, north of occupied Jerusalem. The order was issued citing construction without a permit.
Local sources stated that Al-Rajabi executed the demolition himself to avoid heavy fines and costs imposed by the occupation municipality if its teams carried out the operation. The structure measures 66 square meters and was built in 2010.
The dwelling housed seven individuals at the time of the order. Authorities continue to enforce demolitions against Palestinian homes and structures in Jerusalem under strict restrictions limiting access to building permits for Palestinians.
These constraints force families into choosing between self-demolition or bearing exorbitant financial penalties. The policy remains a central mechanism in the ongoing displacement efforts within the city.
