Israeli Forces Shell Daraa and Advance in Quneitra

Gaza Herald – Occupation forces shelled the outskirts of Abidin village in western Daraa countryside, southern Syria, with artillery shells on Saturday. This occurred simultaneously with the penetration of military vehicles into Sidah al-Hanout village in the southern Quneitra countryside.

The Syrian News Channel reported that the bombardment targeted the edges of Abidin village. The channel did not report any casualties or damages resulting from the strikes. It added that two tanks and other military vehicles belonging to occupation forces moved west of Sidah al-Hanout.

According to the channel, these forces fired towards residential neighborhoods. No information was available regarding injuries or property damage. Furthermore, there were no reports concerning the withdrawal of the penetrating troops from the area at that time.

Abidin is located in the Yarmouk Basin area within the western Daraa countryside. The village had previously been subjected to repeated artillery targeting by occupation forces last September. These actions represent a continuation of broader military activities in the region.

Occupation forces have continued to expand the scope of their penetrations inside Syrian territory since December 2024. They advanced toward the buffer zone in the occupied Golan Heights and adjacent sites. Damascus demands the withdrawal of occupation forces from areas they have penetrated.

Syria emphasizes its commitment to the Disengagement Agreement signed in 1974. In contrast, the occupation justifies its movements citing security considerations. This diplomatic tension persists as military operations continue on the ground.

Last September, Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa addressed the UN General Assembly. He stated that occupation forces carried out approximately 500 air and artillery raids since the fall of the previous regime. Additionally, more than 1,200 penetrations were recorded during this period.

The president also noted roughly 300 detention and arrest operations involving Syrians. These figures highlight the scale of military incursions and their impact on local populations. The situation remains volatile with ongoing threats to civilian safety.
