Gaza Herald_ Qatar is pressing for the full implementation of the agreed ceasefire plan in the Gaza Strip, despite what it described as continued Israeli obstruction.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari said Tuesday that Doha remains committed to advancing efforts to implement the Gaza ceasefire agreement and ensuring that both sides fulfill their obligations under the plan.
“What we are demanding is that both parties to the Gaza agreement fully implement the agreed plan,” al-Ansari said at a news conference.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected the 15-point Gaza ceasefire proposal and continued to demand that Hamas disarm first. However, the roadmap released by US President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace on July 31 outlines a phased process in which Hamas’ disarmament and an Israeli withdrawal from Gaza would move forward gradually and in parallel.
Qatar has also been working to contain the wider regional crisis and prevent further escalation. Al-Ansari said Doha’s immediate priority is to reduce tensions and bring the United States and Iran back to dialogue and negotiations.
“At this stage, our efforts are focused on stopping the escalation and bringing both sides of the crisis back to the dialogue table,” he said.
Qatar is seeking a simultaneous agreement on a ceasefire and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz as part of broader efforts to ease regional tensions.
Addressing the issue of Iranian pilots who entered Qatari airspace, al-Ansari said Qatar located the remains of one of the two pilots on March 19 and later transferred them to Iranian authorities.
He added that Tehran had not responded to Qatar’s invitation to send a technical team to observe the ongoing search operations.
