Gaza Herald – Israeli forces continued their violations of the Gaza ceasefire on Friday, August 14, 2026, carrying out heavy gunfire and artillery shelling across several areas of the besieged Strip.
The latest attacks come on the 309th consecutive day of reported Israeli violations of the agreement that formally ended the war in Gaza on October 10, 2025, following Egyptian and U.S.-backed mediation.
Across Gaza, Israeli military vehicles opened fire as drones and surveillance aircraft flew at low altitudes over populated areas.
Israeli artillery struck areas south of al-Bardawil neighborhood and south of Mawasi Rafah, while Israeli forces continued firing east of Gaza City alongside further artillery bombardment in the area.
The renewed attacks came amid continued Israeli violations of the ceasefire, with Palestinian civilians killed and wounded in repeated strikes and gunfire across the Strip.
On Thursday, two Palestinians were killed and others injured in Israeli attacks as bombardment and gunfire continued in several parts of Gaza.
Among those killed was 43-year-old Colonel Jamal Mahmoud Abu Kmeil, director of the Gaza Police Directorate. Palestinian authorities said Abu Kmeil was killed when an Israeli air strike targeted his vehicle on al-Rashid Street, southwest of Gaza City.
According to figures released by Gaza’s Ministry of Health, the number of Palestinians killed since the ceasefire took effect on October 10 has risen to 1,260, with 4,154 Palestinians injured. Authorities have also recovered the remains of 808 Palestinians during the same period.
The overall death toll from the Israeli genocide on Gaza since October 7, 2023 has reached 73,389 Palestinians, while 174,266 Palestinians have been reported injured.
The continuing attacks underscore the vulnerability of Palestinians in Gaza despite the formal ceasefire, as Israeli artillery, gunfire, surveillance aircraft and air strikes continue to threaten civilian communities across the Strip.
