Gaza Herald – The United Nations announced on Monday that more than 150 Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip during July, marking the highest monthly death toll recorded since the beginning of the year.
Speaking at a press briefing at UN headquarters in New York, Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, said Israeli forces continued carrying out airstrikes, artillery shelling, and live-fire attacks throughout the weekend, resulting in the deaths of civilians, including children.
Citing figures from the Palestinian Ministry of Health, Haq said that over 150 fatalities were documented during the past month. He noted that most of the attacks occurred in western Gaza, where the majority of the territory’s approximately 2.1 million residents are currently concentrated.
The Gaza Health Ministry had reported on Saturday that 152 Palestinians were killed during July, stressing that its the highest monthly death toll recorded in 2026.
Haq also said that an Israeli strike damaged a medical supplies warehouse near Al-Aqsa Hospital. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the hospital building sustained minor damage, while essential medical supplies, including recently delivered WHO shipments, were destroyed.
The UN reiterated the need to protect healthcare facilities and warned that funding shortages continue to worsen the lack of essential medicines and medical supplies in Gaza.
Haq added that additional infection prevention and control supplies remain pending approval by the Israeli authorities before they can enter the territory.
Despite optimism following the announcement of a roadmap for implementing the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, Israeli forces intensified airstrikes and artillery attacks across multiple areas of the enclave over the weekend.
According to Palestinian sources, 26 Palestinians, including women and children, were killed on Saturday and Sunday in attacks targeting homes and civilian gatherings.
Israel has continued to carry out airstrikes despite the ceasefire that entered into force on October 10, 2025. Palestinian health authorities say that, as of Monday, these violations have resulted in 1,250 Palestinians killed and 4,110 injured since the ceasefire began.
