Gaza Herald- A young girl was injured by Israeli gunfire early Friday in the town of Beit Lahia in the northern Gaza Strip, as ceasefire violations continue.
The Northern Gaza Medical Services Directorate said in a statement that its teams transported a 10-year-old girl in critical condition to Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City after gunfire targeted residents and displaced people in the Beit Lahia Project area.
Eyewitnesses reported that the girl was shot in the head while she was inside Khalifa School, which is sheltering displaced families.
Witnesses added that Israeli military vehicles positioned north and east of Beit Lahia opened heavy fire starting Thursday evening, alongside artillery shelling in the surrounding area.
Israeli forces also opened fire toward neighborhoods in Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.
Israeli forces continue to violate the ceasefire agreement in Gaza through air and artillery strikes targeting areas where displaced people are sheltering, in addition to demolition and destruction operations within what is known as the “yellow line,” while maintaining restrictions on the movement of goods, aid, and travel.
According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, the number of fatalities since the ceasefire began on October 10 has risen to 972, with 2,235 injuries, in addition to 761 recorded cases of bodies recovered.
The overall toll since October 7, 2023, has reached approximately 72,568 killed and 172,338 injured, reflecting the high human cost of the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip.
