Gaza Herald – Palestinian tribes, clans, and reconciliation committees in Gaza announced on Tuesday their rejection of what they described as a “mercenary and ostracized group” operating within militias linked to the Israeli occupation.
The tribes emphasized that such groups are socially unacceptable and contradict national and religious values.
In an official statement, the tribes highlighted that the Palestinian cause is facing one of its most difficult and dangerous periods amid the catastrophic humanitarian situation caused by the genocide. They stressed that any collaboration with the Israeli occupation constitutes a breach of societal cohesion.
The statement also praised Palestinian families who publicly disassociated themselves from members who had joined these militias, lifting the tribal cover from them, and encouraged others to follow this example in confronting this phenomenon.
A previous tribal initiative allowing members who wish to “repent” to return to society reportedly succeeded in reintegrating some individuals after they surrendered, settled their cases, and rejoined their families. The tribes urged remaining members to take advantage of this initiative, warning that opportunities for reconciliation may not remain available indefinitely.
The statement emphasized that “returning to righteousness is better than persisting in wrongdoing” and affirmed the tribes’ support for security forces in confronting this issue. They commended the security efforts despite difficult circumstances and reiterated their commitment to maintaining civil peace and strengthening internal cohesion.
