Gaza Faces Imminent Food Production Shutdown Amid Severe Supply Shortages

Gaza Herald – Officials in Gaza’s food and agricultural sector have warned of a looming shutdown of remaining food production lines and bakeries due to severe shortages of industrial oils and essential spare parts needed for maintenance and operation.

Industry representatives said facilities that are still operating are operating at extremely limited capacity, stressing that the continued ban on the entry of technical supplies will soon lead to machinery breakdowns and a complete halt in production.

They cautioned that such a scenario would pose a direct threat to food security in Gaza, further deepening the humanitarian and economic crisis, particularly as basic goods remain scarce and the population increasingly depends on local production.

Calls have been made for urgent international intervention to ensure the entry of critical supplies, with industry groups expressing readiness to coordinate with humanitarian organizations to prioritize needs and sustain minimal production levels.

The warning comes as Gaza faces worsening humanitarian conditions, marked by widespread infrastructure destruction, prolonged displacement, and a severe lack of essential resources, leaving hundreds of thousands struggling to meet basic daily needs.
