Israeli Attacks Kill 16 in Gaza in 24 Hours

Gaza Herald – At least 16 Palestinians were killed and dozens were injured across the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours as Israeli forces continued strikes and gunfire in multiple areas despite the ceasefire in place since October 2025.

According to local authorities, an Israeli airstrike targeted a police vehicle on Salah al-Din Road near the entrance to Al-Zawayda town in central Gaza, killing nine police officers, including Col. Iyad Abu Youssef, director of the Intervention Police in the central governorate. Fourteen people were also injured in the strike.

In a separate development, Hamas’s military wing announced the death of Nael Al-Barawi, a commander in the Al-Qassam Brigades, who succumbed to wounds sustained in an earlier strike about a week ago.

Meanwhile, three displaced Palestinians were killed, including a child, overnight after a damaged wall collapsed onto tents in the Al-Mawasi area west of Khan Younis.

Israeli forces also carried out airstrikes south of Khan Younis early Monday and opened fire east of Gaza City, according to local sources.

Medical officials said hospitals across Gaza received 14 newly confirmed bodies and 16 injured individuals over the past 24 hours.

Since the ceasefire took effect on October 11, at least 673 Palestinians have been killed and 1,770 injured, while 756 bodies have been recovered from beneath the rubble.

The overall toll since the start of the Israeli genocide in Gaza on October 7, 2023, has risen to 72,234 killed and 171,852 injured, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.
