Gaza Sandstorm Leaves Two Children Injured, Dozens of Tents Damaged

Gaza Herald – Two children were injured Saturday in Khan Younis when a wall collapsed on them during a severe sandstorm accompanied by strong winds that swept across the Gaza Strip, causing zero visibility and widespread dust in multiple areas.

In a separate incident, a cracked building wall fell on a tent sheltering displaced families near Gaza Port in the western part of the city.

Additionally, a palm tree toppled onto another tent in the area due to the high winds.

Gaza’s Civil Defense reported that its teams received numerous emergency calls from residents across Khan Younis affected by the storm and strong winds, which damaged tents and other property.

Teams worked around the clock to remove hazards, secure tents, and assist residents inside camps to minimize injuries and damage. Several on-site injuries were also treated.

The sandstorm struck wide areas of the strip from early morning, intensifying the suffering of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians living in fragile tents and temporary shelters, following two years of destructive Israeli attacks.

Around 1.9 million of Gaza’s 2.4 million civilians remain displaced, living in makeshift tents without basic necessities, after Israeli airstrikes destroyed entire neighborhoods.

Despite the ceasefire agreement, humanitarian conditions have not improved due to Israel’s failure to deliver the agreed quantities of food, medical supplies, and shelter materials.

Israeli forces continue daily violations of the ceasefire through shelling and gunfire, which have caused 651 Palestinian killed and 1,741 injuries since the agreement came into effect.
