Gaza Herald – The US House of Representatives approved $3.3 billion in military assistance to Israel, moving forward with the funding despite ongoing declarations supporting peace arrangements related to Gaza.
The aid was passed as part of the 2026 National Security, State Department, and Related Programs Appropriations Act, folded into a broader legislative “minibus” covering foreign aid and security spending.
The funding was delivered through the Foreign Military Financing program, which allows Washington to purchase US-made weapons for foreign governments using American taxpayer funds. Israel remains the program’s largest recipient.
The vote came amid escalating regional militarization, as President Donald Trump weighs further military action against Iran following recent Israeli strikes and direct US involvement across the region.
Under a 10-year memorandum of understanding set to expire in 2028, Israel receives approximately $3.3 billion annually, although recent assessments indicate that US military backing far exceeds that figure.
A Brown University report estimated total US assistance to Israel since October 2023 at nearly $34 billion, including expanded military aid during Israel’s genocide in Gaza and coordinated US-Israeli operations across the region.
