Gaza Herald- Gaza Municipality warned that widespread infrastructure destruction is hindering stormwater drainage amid a low-pressure system.
Humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip are dire due to heavy rainfall affecting torn tents and destroyed infrastructure, the Gaza Municipality said in a press release issued on Saturday.
The municipality warned that a severe shortage of essential winter supplies is worsening the humanitarian conditions of displaced people and local residents.
It confirmed that the unprecedented destruction in the Gaza Strip is severely obstructing rainwater drainage, exacerbating already dire humanitarian conditions.
Red Cross Head Hermann Grohe told Rheinische Post that the harsh winter, coupled with poor supply conditions, is especially devastating for children, the sick, and the elderly.
He highlighted a severe shortage of supplies, saying, “There is still a lack of everything: sufficient food, medical supplies, medicines, electricity, and water.”
He added that the humanitarian aid reaching Gaza remains insufficient, falling short of the target of 600 trucks per day.
