Another Palestinian Infant Frozen to Death in Gaza

Gaza Herald – Another Palestinian infant has died in Gaza after exposure to extreme cold, Gaza’s Health Ministry said Thursday, as harsh winter weather continues to claim lives amid conditions created by the Israeli genocide. The ministry said one-month-old Saeed Asaad Abideen died after suffering a severe drop in body temperature.

Health officials confirmed that the infant’s death raised to 13 the number of Palestinians who have died after being hospitalized due to the recent cold wave and extreme weather. Many of the victims were children living in unsafe shelters after their homes were destroyed by Israeli bombardment.

Gaza’s Civil Defense had earlier warned that the intense cold poses a deadly threat to children, as hundreds of thousands of displaced families remain without proper shelter or heating. Most are forced to live in tents or makeshift structures, facing severe shortages of blankets, winter clothing, and fuel.

Gaza authorities said the Israeli occupation has failed to meet its obligations under the October 10 ceasefire, including allowing shelter materials and mobile homes into the besieged enclave. Since October 2023, Israel’s genocide has killed nearly 70,700 Palestinians and injured more than 171,100, leaving civilians exposed not only to bombs, but to hunger, cold, and preventable death.
