Gaza Herald – Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Gaza Dr. Yousef Abu Al-Rish announced on Thursday that the health sector in the besieged Strip is facing unprecedented challenges, with the medical drug shortage reaching its highest level in the past two years.
Speaking during a ceremony marking the rehabilitation of a building in Al-Shifa Medical Complex, Abu Al-Rish stated that the healthcare system is suffering from a severe shortage of essential medicines and medical consumables.
He attributed this deterioration to ongoing indirect killings resulting from the Israeli blockade, particularly the prevention of medical supply entries and the restriction of specialized medical delegations into Gaza.
Despite the dire conditions, Abu Al-Rish highlighted examples of Palestinian resilience and determination to preserve life. He noted that renovation and rehabilitation efforts in healthcare facilities have continued even throughout the war, describing this as a testament to the sector’s commitment.
He reaffirmed the Ministry of Health’s mission to persist in providing medical care, announcing the launch of a recovery plan aimed at restoring and rehabilitating the health infrastructure damaged by Israeli attacks.
