Gaza Herald- The Forensic Department in Gaza has announced that it has successfully identified the body of one additional martyr among those recently returned by the Israeli occupation via the International Committee of the Red Cross.
This brings the total number of identified bodies to 100 out of 345, according to department spokesperson Mahmoud Ashour.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday, Ashour confirmed that 245 bodies have been buried so far, while specialized teams continue their efforts to examine and document the remaining bodies under extremely difficult field and humanitarian conditions.
Ashour emphasized that the forensic teams are doing their utmost with the limited resources and capabilities available, working under a highly challenging and complex reality. He stressed that these efforts are being carried out in full respect for the dignity of the martyrs and the rights of their families.
The spokesperson called on the international community and humanitarian organizations to take responsibility and exert pressure on Israel to immediately allow the entry of necessary technical and forensic equipment into the Gaza Strip. Such tools, he said, are urgently needed to speed up the process of identifying the unknown victims and help resolve this ongoing humanitarian crisis.
The return and identification of bodies have become a central issue in Gaza following the mass casualties caused by Israel’s genocidal campaign, which has led to tens of thousands of deaths and widespread destruction across the territory.
