Seven Displaced Palestinians Lose Their Lives as Storm Collapses Shelters in Gaza

Gaza Herald – Seven Palestinians, including a child, have died and others were injured as Storm Biron enters its third day, causing homes, walls, and displacement tents to collapse across the Gaza Strip, where more than 1.5 million people are forced to live without safe shelter amid Israel’s ongoing genocide.

Emergency services reported five killed when a house collapsed in Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza, while another person died after a wall fell onto displacement tents near a commercial area in Gaza City. Two children were also injured when their tent collapsed in the northern camp of Abu Jabal.

The storm has flooded entire displacement zones, including Al-Mawasi in Khan Younis, parts of Deir al-Balah, Nuseirat, and central Gaza City, as heavy rain, violent winds, and cold temperatures batter families living in makeshift shelters with no protection.

Civil defense crews said they evacuated families from multiple partially collapsed buildings and responded to thousands of distress calls with severely limited resources. Weather authorities warn that rain and thunderstorms will continue through the day before conditions gradually ease.

These deaths come as Gaza’s displaced population faces compounded danger from exposure, hunger, disease, and infrastructure destroyed by Israel’s genocide, leaving families vulnerable not only to bombs but to the elements themselves.
