UN Rejects Israeli Claim of a “New Gaza Border”

Gaza Herald – The United Nations on Tuesday issued a firm denunciation of statements by senior Israeli occupation officials claiming that the so-called “yellow line” in Gaza represents a newly imposed border, stressing that no party has the authority to alter Gaza’s internationally recognized boundaries.

UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric stated that the organization “categorically opposes any change to the borders of Gaza and Israel,” underscoring that such claims violate both international law and the framework referenced in the U.S. peace proposal cited by the occupation.

The remarks came in response to assertions by Israeli occupation Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir, who labeled the “yellow line” a new perimeter serving as both an “advanced defense line for settlements” and an “offensive line.” The UN dismissed this as unilateral and unlawful, reaffirming that Gaza’s status is defined by its existing, internationally recognized boundaries.

The “yellow line” reflects the position to which occupation forces withdrew during the first phase of the U.S. plan related to the ongoing genocide in Gaza, a context in which any attempt to redraw borders is seen as part of broader efforts to impose new realities by force.
