Gaza Herald_ As Gaza continues to reel from years of war and destruction, Israel has revealed plans that would reshape the territory under strict military control, raising fears that Palestinians’ freedom and dignity will be further restricted. The proposed measures come amid ongoing humanitarian crises and widespread destruction of homes, infrastructure, and basic services.
Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth has released new details on Israel’s next phase for Gaza, revealing plans that centre on maintaining direct military control while reshaping parts of the devastated territory.
According to the report, Israel intends to construct what it calls a “new Gaza” inside zones held by its forces, starting in Rafah.
The initiative includes setting up caravan-style housing units connected to water, electricity, and sewage networks. Palestinians would be encouraged to relocate to these designated areas, where the army plans to enforce a sweeping surveillance system, including facial-recognition technology and metal-detector corridors positioned along the so-called yellow line.
Under the proposal, similar controlled camps could later be expanded to Khan Younis and Gaza’s northern regions.
Critics warn that Israel’s blueprint risks turning Gaza into a heavily monitored, militarised enclave, where Palestinians are confined to restricted zones under constant surveillance, with little say over their own lives or future. The plan underscores the ongoing displacement and control faced by Gazans, threatening the prospects of genuine recovery and normal civilian life.
