Gaza Herald – Thousands of critically ill Palestinians, including nearly 4,000 children, are trapped inside collapsing hospitals in Gaza, where Israel’s blockade and closure of border crossings have halted all medical evacuations. Conditions that were once treatable have now become life-threatening due to the near-total destruction of Gaza’s healthcare infrastructure.
In hospitals like al-Aqsa Medical Complex, children suffering from neurological and immune disorders are left without diagnosis or treatment as essential medical equipment, tests, and medications are no longer available. Families describe watching their children deteriorate while doctors can only offer pain relief or supportive care with dwindling supplies.
Many patients developed severe complications after exposure to toxic gases and airborne contaminants from destroyed buildings and ongoing military operations. Others require urgent surgeries, chemotherapy, dialysis, and advanced neurological care, all impossible under current conditions.
Humanitarian officials warn that at least 15,000 critically ill patients are waiting to be evacuated abroad for life-saving treatment. However, Israel continues to keep the Rafah crossing closed and conditions the movement of patients on political demands tied to the ceasefire, effectively using medical access as a weapon of war.
