Israel to Receive Bodies of Two Captives from Gaza as Justification for Ceasefire Massacre Faces Scrutiny

Gaza Herald – Israel announced that the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is en route to receive the bodies of two Israeli captives from Gaza, following coordination between the Israeli army and the Shin Bet security agency.

According to Israeli media, including Haaretz, the transfer of the remains is expected within hours.

The move comes less than a day after Israel launched a devastating wave of airstrikes across Gaza, killing more than 100 civilians, including dozens of children, under the pretext that Hamas had delayed handing over the bodies of deceased captives.

Hamas confirmed earlier that its members would hand over the remains of two Israeli captives killed by Israeli airstrikes during the ongoing genocide, stressing that Israel’s renewed attacks had obstructed the retrieval and transfer process. The group accused Israel of using the captives’ files as political leverage to justify further massacres against Gaza’s civilian population.

Human rights organizations condemned Israel’s latest assault as part of its systematic campaign of collective punishment, describing the strikes as an attempt to weaponize humanitarian issues, including prisoner exchanges and recovery of bodies, to prolong the suffering of 2.3 million besieged Palestinians.
