Gaza Herald – In a shocking escalation, far-right Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has publicly urged Israeli forces to open fire on any Palestinian child who approaches the so-called “Yellow Line” inside Gaza, according to a statement released today.
The call, framed by officials as a security directive, comes amid reports of ongoing demolitions and deadly strikes despite the nominal ceasefire, and has sparked outrage from rights groups who say it amounts to a direct incitement to kill civilians and children.
The directive came just days after an Israeli artillery strike targeted a vehicle belonging to Shaaban family in Gaza City’s Zeitoun neighborhood. The car was carrying displaced relatives returning to their homes when it was struck. Israeli forces claimed the vehicle had “crossed the Yellow Line” and approached their positions. Still, local medics and survivors confirmed it was full of civilians, mostly women and children, attacked without any effective warning.
The assault killed 11 members of the family, the majority of them women and children, and left several others injured, highlighting the deadly consequences of Israel’s open-fire orders and the constant danger Palestinians face even after the so-called ceasefire.
As families attempt to return to shattered homes, they now face not only rubble and starvation but the explicit threat of being shot, a grim reminder that the violence and its consequences for Gaza’s civilians remain far from over.
