Gaza’s North Cut Off, Internet Blackout Under Fire

Gaza Herald – Northern Gaza has been plunged into near-total isolation as Israeli strikes crippled the main fiber optic routes powering the Strip’s communications. With internet and phone lines down, families are cut off from one another, unable to send warnings, call for help, or even confirm who is still alive.

Residents describe the blackout as a second siege. “I had to send a message through a friend in the south to tell my employer I’m offline,” said Malak Radwan. “I was terrified I’d lose my job if they thought I disappeared.”
Others share the same agony. Ahmad Al-Joujou wrote on Instagram: “No news from my family or friends in the north.”

Connectivity watchdogs confirm that Gaza City’s main fiber backbone has been “knocked out,” severing most northern residents from the outside world. The south maintains patchy service, but the north is effectively silenced.

This blackout is not just an standard procedure, but it’s life or death. Without communications, civilians cannot coordinate aid, call ambulances, or warn each other of incoming airstrikes. Israel has turned connectivity itself into a weapon of war, leaving an entire population voiceless under fire.
