Gaza Herald – In a shocking escalation, Israeli warplanes bombed the Palestinian negotiating delegation in Doha during discussions over the latest U.S.-backed ceasefire proposal.
Israeli media outlets Channel 12 and Axios cited an Israeli official confirming that the explosions in Doha were a deliberate assassination attempt targeting senior leaders of Hamas and Islamic Jihad.
Shortly after the attack, the Israeli army and Shin Bet issued a joint statement claiming responsibility, boasting of “a focused strike on Hamas’ top leadership,” whom they accused of orchestrating the October 7 attack and directing the ongoing war.
This unprecedented strike targeted a delegation engaged in delicate negotiations, turning a political process into a battlefield. The assault underscores Israel’s intent to sabotage any prospects for a diplomatic resolution, while endangering mediators and further destabilizing the region.
The attack marks a grave turning point in the war, a direct assault not only on Gaza’s leadership but on the very possibility of negotiation itself.
