Residents of Gaza City Defy Israeli Evacuation Orders

Gaza Herald – Despite Israeli directives declaring the region a combat zone, thousands of residents in Gaza’s largest city are choosing to remain in their homes. Before the war, the city was home to roughly 700,000 people. Many fled earlier under similar threats, though some returned during the January-to-March ceasefire.

The residents expressed that leaving was impossible. “We are worn out from the first displacement,” one resident said. “Where will we go? Moving is costly, and there is nowhere safe in the south.” Another added, “Leaving is not easy, and life is hard. We’ll remain in our houses and hope for the best.”

Field reports indicate that the city faces increasing danger from continuous Israeli attacks. Safe shelters are scarce, and access to humanitarian aid is limited, leaving families who remain highly vulnerable to airstrikes, shelling, and other military operations.

Aid organizations warn that the situation could deteriorate further, highlighting the severe risks faced by civilians who choose to stay despite Israeli evacuation orders.
