Gaza Herald- A new report has revealed that US subcontractors working for the controversial Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) opened fire on Palestinians seeking food, alongside Israeli forces.
An eyewitness, identified as “Mike” (his real name withheld for safety), told CBS News that an American logistics firm hired him to drive aid trucks in Israel. He only later realized he would be working inside Gaza with the Israeli-approved GHF.
Established in May, GHF is the only body authorized by Israel to oversee aid distribution inside the besieged enclave.
According to human rights monitors, at least 2,036 Palestinians have been killed and over 15,064 injured while waiting in line or approaching GHF aid centers.
“It took me two or three days to realize they were actually targeting people, not fighters,” Mike recalled, saying both Israeli troops and American guards were firing directly at civilians. Asked if these were warning shots, he responded: “No, it’s indiscriminate.”
CBS reported that Mike secretly recorded footage of the shootings, where gunfire could clearly be heard.
International groups and rights defenders have condemned GHF distribution points as “death traps.” Multiple investigations have confirmed that US contractors were firing live ammunition at starving civilians.
Israeli forces themselves have admitted to intentionally killing unarmed Palestinians waiting for aid, under direct orders from commanders.
Mike said he witnessed daily gunfire every time he was at the distribution sites, five days a week, over several weeks. Metadata from his phone verified his presence in Gaza at the times he described.
He also described the desperation of Palestinians forced to gather at dawn to secure food packages. “I’ve never seen people so desperate, with such intensity,” he said.
Bodies and remains near aid centers
Mike has since left Gaza and said he will not return. He told CBS that some of the American guards made him feel uneasy, boasting openly about how many people or animals they had shot and even bragging about their marksmanship by targeting birds.
One of his worst experiences, he recalled, was being ordered to help clear away human and animal remains from around GHF sites. “I struggle to even talk about it… my chest tightens when I remember. I just shut down,” he said. Asked why he chose to speak out, he replied: “Because these atrocities don’t need to happen. Staying silent wasn’t an option.”
Both GHF and the Israeli military have denied the accusations, claiming they had no reports of unclaimed bodies near aid centres.
But disturbing evidence continues to surface. In recent weeks, videos and photos have circulated showing human remains near GHF sites.
In August, the Palestinian rights group Addameer reported that at least 54 Palestinians disappeared after heading toward GHF distribution centres.
“We have documented arrests of aid seekers, including children,” Addameer said, accusing Israeli forces of preventing the retrieval of bodies from the areas. “Bodies are piling up near aid sites, and in many cases Israeli bulldozers have buried them without proper recovery or identification.”
