Gaza Herald- The head of the Hamas Movement in Gaza, Dr. Khalil al-Hayya, said that “there is no point in continuing negotiations while destruction, hunger and siege are imposed on our children, women and people in Gaza. The immediate and dignified entry of humanitarian aid and food is the real proof of the seriousness of negotiations.”
“There is no logic in negotiating while our people, children, women, and civilians, are subjected to mass killing, blockade, and hunger,” al-Hayya stated. “Aid must be allowed in immediately and respectfully if the talks are to have any credibility.”
He firmly rejected the idea that Gaza’s suffering could be exploited to serve Israel’s political agenda, saying, “We will not allow our people’s pain or the blood of our children to become bargaining chips for the occupation’s political games.”
Al-Hayya added that Hamas had exhausted all possible efforts over the past 22 months to end the assault, engaging in difficult negotiations to safeguard civilians and halt bloodshed, all while holding firm to the movement’s core values.
He noted that the latest round of talks had shown real movement on key issues, such as prisoner exchanges, Israeli withdrawal, and aid delivery, but was abruptly derailed by Israel’s sudden retreat from the process, backed by U.S. envoy Bill Witkoff. According to al-Hayya, this withdrawal was a deliberate move to stall progress and prolong the genocide of Palestinians.
