GazaHerald –Â At least 15 Palestinians, including four children, were starved to death in the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours, the Gaza Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday, as warnings grow of a spiraling famine in the besieged territory.
In a statement, the ministry confirmed, “Hospitals in Gaza reported 15 deaths, including four children, due to starvation and malnutrition in the past 24 hours.”
Hospital sources said that among the latest victims was an infant, Youssef Al-Safadi, who died at Al-Shifa Medical Complex in northern Gaza. In the south, Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis announced the death of a child named Abdul Hamid Al-Ghalban. Another victim, Ahmed Al-Hassana, died at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital from the same cause.
Since dawn Tuesday, at least four more people, including two children, have died of malnutrition and dehydration, according to Gaza hospital sources. These deaths come as humanitarian workers sound the alarm over the Strip’s worsening hunger crisis.
“The situation is catastrophic. Gaza has entered a dangerous phase of famine, and we expect mass deaths among women and children,” said the director of medical relief in Gaza.
He warned of rising levels of malnutrition, particularly among the most vulnerable, noting that more than 60,000 pregnant women are now suffering from hunger and undernourishment.
The death toll from starvation continues to climb under the ongoing Israeli blockade. On Monday, the Ministry of Health reported that 20 people had died from hunger-related causes in just 48 hours.
Since the beginning of Israel’s genocide, the ministry said that more than 900 Palestinians, including 71 children, have died of hunger and malnutrition. An additional 6,000 injured individuals have been left to search for food in increasingly desperate conditions.
