Gaza Herald — The Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor has issued a sharp condemnation of the ongoing mass killings of starving Palestinian civilians at aid distribution points in Gaza, calling for the immediate shutdown of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) and criminal accountability for former U.S. President Donald Trump for his role in supporting Israel’s siege and blockade.
The rights group asserts that the GHF, presented as a relief entity, is a “criminal apparatus” forcibly imposed by Israel to replace UN humanitarian mechanisms. Euro-Med warns that GHF-managed aid sites have become “death traps,” deliberately designed to lure desperate civilians before targeting them with lethal force.
In a statement, Euro-Med cited documented field testimonies and video evidence showing American private security contractors and Israeli soldiers firing live ammunition and tear gas grenades directly at crowds gathered for food aid. The massacre at Al-Shakoush near Rafah on Saturday, where at least 30 Palestinians were killed and over 180 injured, was the latest atrocity in what Euro-Med calls a systematic campaign of mass killing and starvation.
Euro-Med estimates that over the past two months alone, Israeli forces and American contractors have killed at least 829 Palestinians and injured 5,500 at or near aid distribution sites. These killings, it says, form part of Israel’s larger strategy of using starvation as a weapon of war — a policy that meets the legal definition of genocide under international law.
The organization underscored that Trump’s administration bears direct responsibility for these crimes due to its unequivocal political, financial, and military backing for Israel and its explicit endorsement of the Israeli-run humanitarian mechanism, which has been transformed into a tool of violence and deprivation.
In a particularly damning accusation, Euro-Med pointed to Trump’s support for the structure that has replaced neutral humanitarian channels with militarized control points that serve as arenas for killing civilians who have already been deprived of food and medicine.
Euro-Med’s call for action includes demands for an independent international investigation into GHF’s role, with specific accountability for its directors, logistics coordinators, team leaders, and private security partners. The organization also urged national courts to pursue civil lawsuits seeking compensation for victims and families impacted by the violence.
The group further called on all states to immediately suspend all forms of support to Israel, including military exports and diplomatic privileges, and to implement comprehensive sanctions in response to Israel’s grave violations of international humanitarian law. It emphasized the need for independent international observers on the ground to ensure humanitarian corridors are opened and aid is delivered directly under UN supervision — without interference from Israel or its proxies.
Euro-Med stressed that Israel’s use of starvation and systematic violence against civilians at aid points, combined with the destruction of Gaza’s food systems and the obstruction of humanitarian aid, demonstrates a clear intent to destroy the Palestinian population of Gaza “in whole or in part” — a key threshold for the crime of genocide under Article II of the Genocide Convention.
In its closing remarks, Euro-Med demanded that the international community not only investigate and prosecute those responsible but also act decisively to stop what it describes as an ongoing genocide.
The humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues to deepen. More than 18,000 children have been killed since Israel’s war began, with thousands more dying from hunger, dehydration, and preventable disease as a result of the blockade. Aid agencies and rights groups warn that unless urgent action is taken to lift the siege and halt Israel’s attacks, Gaza’s civilian population will continue to face mass death on an unprecedented scale.
