Child among nine injured in Israeli strike targeting home in al-Shati refugee camp

Gaza Herald– Nine Palestinians, including a child, were injured Friday evening after Israeli warplanes struck a home near Hamid Street in al-Shati refugee camp west of Gaza City, sparking a fire at the site.

Israeli aircraft initially targeted the house in the camp before striking it again, while Israeli artillery shelling simultaneously hit eastern Gaza City.

Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for Gaza’s Civil Defense, said Israeli forces targeted a home belonging to the al-Adham family in the al-Shati area, injuring around nine Palestinians directly.

Basal explained that the targeted house was a single-story home located in “Block 9” of the camp. He said the strike was carried out with a military missile and completely destroyed the building.

He added that dozens of neighboring homes and buildings were damaged, with fires breaking out in several of them, threatening to displace dozens of families due to the scale of the destruction and ongoing danger.

Civil Defense officials called on the international community, human rights organizations, and mediators to urgently intervene to protect civilians in Gaza and stop the targeting of residential neighborhoods and civilian facilities.

Meanwhile, Israeli artillery shelling continued in eastern areas of Khan Younis in southern Gaza.

Israeli forces have continued violating the Gaza ceasefire agreement for the 211th consecutive day through intensified artillery shelling, gunfire, and attacks on civilians across different parts of the Strip.

According to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, the number of people killed since the ceasefire took effect on October 10, 2025, has risen to 846, while 2,418 others have been injured.
