Doctors Without Borders Warns: Life Is Still Being Strangled in Gaza Despite the Ceasefire

Gaza Herald- Doctors Without Borders has warned that the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip has not brought an end to the worsening humanitarian crisis, stressing that residents continue to face harsh living conditions and a severe shortage of basic necessities months after the truce began.

In a statement released on Friday, the organization explained that the agreement to halt the fighting, despite its importance, came too late after extensive human losses. It emphasized that humanitarian, medical, and psychological needs in the territory remain overwhelming and require an urgent and comprehensive response.

The organization confirmed that conditions on the ground continue to reflect ongoing suffering, with shortages of medical supplies and food, as well as continued restrictions on the entry of aid. These obstacles are hindering humanitarian response efforts and leaving hundreds of thousands of people in what it described as “dire” conditions.

It stressed that the ceasefire is only a first step, calling for the immediate lifting of restrictions and ensuring a large-scale, sustained flow of humanitarian assistance, including food, water, and healthcare, along with support for essential services and the rehabilitation of the health sector.

Doctors Without Borders also highlighted the urgent need for measures to address critical health conditions, including expanding medical evacuations for patients who cannot be treated inside Gaza, given the collapse of the healthcare system.

This warning comes as field reports indicate that humanitarian conditions have not seen meaningful improvement, with displaced populations still living in extremely difficult circumstances, amid severe shortages of food, water, and shelter.
