Israel Re-Closes Gaza Crossings, Deepening Humanitarian Crisis

Gaza Herald – Israel’s renewed closure of Gaza’s border crossings is pushing the already fragile humanitarian situation toward further collapse, as the entry of aid, goods, and fuel is disrupted and the movement of patients and wounded individuals is severely restricted.

The closure includes the Rafah crossing, cutting off dozens of critically ill and injured patients from reaching hospitals in Egypt for urgently needed treatment. It also affects the Kerem Shalom crossing, the main commercial gateway for goods and fuel into Gaza, further tightening the blockade and exacerbating shortages of essential supplies.

This development comes amid stalled implementation of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement, with key provisions, including the entry of humanitarian supplies and equipment needed to clear thousands of tons of rubble, facing significant delays on the ground.

As conditions deteriorate, fears are mounting among Palestinians of a deepening humanitarian catastrophe, with access to food, medicine, and basic services increasingly under threat. Meanwhile, Hamas has stated it will not engage in discussions regarding disarmament before ongoing Israeli violations cease, calling for guarantees of a full Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.
