Gaza Herald – The number of Palestinian detainees who have died in Israeli jails since the start of the genocide has risen to 89, whose identities have been confirmed, including 52 from the Gaza Strip, the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society revealed.
The latest data followed the death of detainee Marwan Harzallah from Nablus.
According to the organization, these deaths resulted from torture, starvation, medical negligence, and systematic abuse, in addition to a broader pattern of violations including deprivation, humiliation, and detention under inhumane conditions.
The group also noted that several detainees from Gaza who died in custody remain victims of enforced disappearance, while others were subjected to extrajudicial executions. It added that the condition of bodies returned after the ceasefire provides evidence suggesting systematic killings outside legal frameworks.
The organization described the current period as the deadliest in the history of the Palestinian prisoners’ movement, stating that the total number of identified prisoner deaths since 1967 has reached 326. It also reported that 97 detainees’ bodies are still being withheld, including 86 cases since the beginning of the genocide.
