Gaza Herald – Gaza Government Media Office reports that as Eid al-Fitr approaches, more than 2.4 million people in the Gaza Strip are facing catastrophic and unprecedented humanitarian conditions. The population continues to suffer under an ongoing blockade and a severe collapse of basic living conditions, with widespread destruction, forced displacement, and a critical shortage of food, water, and medicine.
This year, the holiday arrives without even the most basic elements of celebration, as families struggle to meet essential needs, including providing for children during Eid. The situation reflects what officials describe as a systematic policy of deprivation, stripping civilians of their fundamental human rights and turning a time of joy into one of ongoing hardship.
Since the ceasefire came into effect on 10 October 2025, Israeli forces have committed 2,073 documented violations over 158 consecutive days up to 18 March 2026. These include 750 shooting incidents, 87 ground incursions into residential areas, 973 airstrikes and attacks, and 263 cases of demolishing homes and buildings.
These violations have resulted in 677 killed, 305 of them children, women, and elderly; and 1,813 injured, with civilians making up more than 99% of the casualties. Additionally, 50 individuals were detained from within residential neighborhoods.
Humanitarian access remains severely restricted. Only 38,358 aid, commercial, and fuel trucks have entered Gaza, around 40% of the agreed 94,800, while fuel deliveries reached just 14% of required levels. The Rafah crossing has also seen limited movement, with only 1,934 travelers recorded in February, about 35 percent of the expected number.
Authorities warn that these continued violations undermine the ceasefire agreement and deepen the humanitarian crisis, calling on international actors to ensure compliance, protect civilians, and allow the urgent and unrestricted entry of aid, fuel, and essential supplies into Gaza.
