Freezing Cold Claims Infant’s Life in Gaza City

Gaza Herald – A three-month-old infant died on Thursday in Gaza City after exposure to extreme cold, as winter conditions deepen an already catastrophic humanitarian crisis in the besieged enclave, medical sources confirmed.

The baby, Ali Abu Zour, succumbed to hypothermia amid a severe shortage of heating, shelter, and basic assistance. His death brings the number of children who have died from cold-related causes in Gaza since the start of winter to ten, according to local health officials.

Medical sources said the incident underscores the lethal conditions facing infants and displaced families, many of whom are living in makeshift tents that offer little protection against freezing temperatures, heavy rain, and strong winds.

Residents across Gaza continue to endure a near-total collapse of living conditions, marked by widespread displacement, lack of adequate housing and medical care, and acute fuel shortages, as a powerful winter storm compounds the effects of prolonged siege and deprivation.
