Freezing Temperatures Kill Displaced Infant in Gaza as Families Shiver in Tents

Gaza Herald – A baby girl, Shatha Abu Jarrad, has died after being exposed to extreme cold in displacement tents across Gaza, where thousands of families remain sheltering after Israeli forces destroyed their homes.

Her death highlights the worsening humanitarian catastrophe facing displaced Palestinians, as inadequate shelter, winter conditions, and the lack of basic heating supplies continue to claim lives among the most vulnerable, particularly infants and young children.

Her death brings the number of children who have died from extreme cold in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of winter to nine, amid a severe shortage of humanitarian aid and the absence of adequate heating.
