WHO Reports Over 18,500 Gaza Patients Urgently Need Medical Evacuation

Gaza Herald – The World Health Organization (WHO) announced on Monday that more than 18,500 Palestinians from Gaza, including around 4,000 children, urgently require medical evacuation for life-saving treatment.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus called on countries worldwide to open their borders to patients from Gaza and resume medical evacuations to the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, to ensure access to essential care.

Last week, WHO facilitated the evacuation of 18 patients and 36 companions from Gaza to Jordan, where they received specialized medical care for severe injuries and critical health conditions.

Since the start of Israel’s genocidal war in October 2023, over 10,700 patients have been evacuated from Gaza to more than 30 countries for specialized treatment, amid a humanitarian crisis that has left over 71,000 killed and 171,000 injured.
