Israel Kills Over 60 Journalists in Gaza in 2025

Gaza Herald – The Palestinian Journalists Protection Center (PJPC) confirmed that Israeli occupation forces killed more than 60 journalists and media workers in Gaza since the start of 2025, marking one of the deadliest and most systematic attacks on press freedom in recent history.

Victims were targeted while reporting from the field, inside their homes, in displacement tents, and even during medical treatment in hospitals. PJPC emphasized that these attacks form part of a deliberate policy to silence the truth and erase evidence of crimes committed against civilians.

Most of the journalists killed were documenting human rights violations and war crimes, highlighting the occupation’s intentional targeting of those transmitting the Palestinian narrative to the world.

PJPC warned that these killings constitute war crimes and crimes against humanity under the Rome Statute, specifically Articles 7 and 8, which criminalize deliberate attacks on civilians, including protected groups such as journalists during armed conflicts.

The organization called on the UN, the ICC, and international human rights mechanisms to launch urgent, independent investigations, hold the perpetrators accountable, and end the culture of impunity that allows Israel continues targeting Gaza’s media professionals.
