WHO Chief: Israel Blocks Vital Medical Supplies to Gaza

Gaza Herald- Israel continues to impose a ban on border crossings into Gaza, obstructing the entry of laboratory and diagnostic equipment and hindering urgent medical efforts, according to the Director-General of the World Health Organization.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warned on X that his agency is facing challenges due to the uninterrupted Israeli restrictions on border crossings into the besieged territory of Gaza, denying the entry of essential supplies.

He noted that many supplies were blocked as dual-use items, despite being critical for the timely diagnosis and treatment of acute respiratory cases.

Tedros warned that severe weather and restrictions on essential winter supplies and aid are driving a growing death toll in Gaza.

Israel’s restrictions on aid entry mean hospitals remain overstretched with critically injured and malnourished patients, and medical supplies have still not meaningfully increased since the start of the ceasefire agreement on 10 October.
