Gaza Herald – The International Committee of the Red Cross says Israel continues to block its teams from visiting Palestinian prisoners, a restriction in place since October 7, 2023. Director-General Pierre Krähenbühl stated that the organization is working to regain access despite ongoing Israeli limits on its operations.
An Israeli audit cited by The Times of Israel reports that Palestinians held in Israeli prisons have been kept in rapidly deteriorating conditions since the start of Israel’s genocide in Gaza. Inspectors documented severe weight loss and clear signs of malnutrition among detainees, noting that some have become dangerously thin.
The findings indicate systemic deprivation inside detention facilities, raising alarm over the treatment of prisoners at a time when humanitarian groups are already barred from monitoring their safety.
According to the audit, widespread hunger and worsening health are no longer isolated cases but are pervasive across multiple sites.
Rights advocates warn that without immediate access for independent monitors, the conditions inside Israeli prisons will continue to deteriorate, placing detainees at further risk.
