Gaza Herald – Doctors in Gaza say Israel’s continued blockade of essential medical supplies, even during the ceasefire, has pushed the Strip’s healthcare system to the edge of complete failure.
While Israel permits sweets, mobile phones, and electric bicycles to enter, it continues banning antibiotics, IV solutions, anesthesia, and surgical materials, leaving hospitals unable to perform even the most basic life-saving procedures.
The Health Ministry warns that the shortages are unprecedented, with Israel allowing only five trucks of medical supplies into Gaza each week, three allocated to international organizations and just two to government-run hospitals serving millions. Doctors are now forced to improvise treatments, reuse equipment, and rely on outdated or improvised tools as patients with chronic illnesses deteriorate and emergency cases go untreated.
Families across Gaza are left searching desperately for basic medical items that should be readily available under any ceasefire. Health workers say the blockade forms part of Israel’s broader genocidal campaign, deliberately disabling the healthcare system and placing thousands of injured and sick Palestinians at risk of preventable death.
