UNRWA: 508 Children Are Acutely Malnourished in Gaza as Famine Deepens

Gaza Herald – UNRWA says 508 children were found to be acutely malnourished during screenings of nearly 7,000 children in its first immunization campaign last month, underscoring the accelerating collapse of Gaza’s food system under Israel’s ongoing genocide.

The UN agency warned that severe hunger is spreading rapidly among displaced families who lack access to safe food, clean water, and medical care.

The findings come months after a formal famine declaration for Gaza City and surrounding areas, where more than 500,000 Palestinians are living in what experts classify as “catastrophic conditions.” UN officials say starvation is now a weapon of war, with children facing irreversible harm, or death, unless unrestricted humanitarian access is immediately restored.
