Gaza Herald – UNICEF warns that Israel’s ongoing genocide, combined with the collapse of Gaza’s food, health, and shelter systems, is pushing 9,300 children under five toward life-threatening starvation as freezing winter temperatures and disease sweep through displacement camps.
Families across the Strip struggle to keep their children alive in tents soaked with sewage, with many boiling discarded bones for broth as cold and illness intensify.
The agency says Gaza’s children, already enduring two years of relentless bombardment, are now trapped in a perfect storm of hunger, cold, and disease that could kill thousands without immediate, unhindered humanitarian access. Parents report their children sleeping without shoes or winter clothing, shivering through the night as they battle infections and respiratory illness.
UNICEF adds that every child in Gaza is already severely traumatized by the genocidal assault that has killed loved ones, destroyed homes and schools, and erased any sense of normal life.
The organization is attempting to provide mental-health and psychosocial support, but stresses that no intervention can offset the overwhelming violence and deprivation Gaza’s children continue to face under Israel’s ongoing campaign.
